*On June 21, 2014, after an illustrious 20-year career, 41-year-old Calvillo announced his retirement after missing the final 10 games of the regular CFL season with a concussion. A five-time CFL all-star, who led Montreal to eight Grey Cup appearances and three championships (2002-2009-2010), he leaves the game as pro football’s most prolific passer (79,816 yards) and the CFL’s all-time leader in completions (5,892), attempts (9,437) and TD strikes (455). In addition he holds regular season records for completions in one game (44), most 300-yard contests (125) and 4,000-yard seasons (11). Calvillo also holds most Grey Cup game records, including passing yards (2,470). A spot in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame surely awaits.

Personal:

In 2012 in honour of the 100th Grey Cup, Canada Post used his image on a series of commemorative postage stamps, on presentation posters and other materials to promote the Grey Cup game and other celebrations associated with the centennial.

The Gord Barwell Award was presented to Anthony Calvillo in 2007 as the CFL player who most exemplifies Christian Character.
