Jessica King's Biography
Born: 1993 – Liverpool, England
Soccer History:
Jessica King first started playing soccer locally as a six-year-old in her native England with Formby and by the time she was 17 was the leading scorer and one of the youngest players in the English Premier League with the Liverpool Ladies Football Club.
Jesse was recruited by head coach Graham Roxburgh to come to Canada and join the Trinity Western University Spartans women’s soccer program in the elite Canadian Interuniversity Sport league as a midfielder while continuing her education in Langley, British Columbia at TWU.
In 2012 Jesse enjoyed her finest season by scoring six official goals as the TWU Spartans recaptured the Gladys Bean memorial trophy as CIS champions for the fourth time in school history. Jesse was also instrumental in helping TWU win back-to-back Canada West Gold Medal banners in 2011 and 2012. After three seasons King has a record of 15 official goals.
With the prospect of continuing her education as a psychology major at TWU and playing with the Spartans through 2013 and 2014, King’s future soccer goals include playing at the highest-level possible, going to the Olympics and eventually playing professionally.
Personal Highlights:
Wosrking in conjunction with Athletes in action, Jessica joined coach Roxburgh and a small party of TWU staff and players on a 17-day missions journey to South Africa in 2012 which King recalls as profoundly impactful. “We were there to serve wherever we could, put on some soccer clinics and play a few games. It was amazing to see how much these young kids love God. It was a totally different atmosphere from what we see everyday here. It was a really cool experience.”
