Career Highlights:

  • An import with a career total of 484 tackles in 11 CFL seasons, Washington is a member of three Grey Cup Championship teams, twice as a player, once as a coach.
  • A natural locker room leader and familiar face in Lions community programs, Washington was recognized for his inspirational play by the Lions in 2003 with the Fred Dietrich Award,.
  • In 2006 he was awarded the CFL Players Association's Tom Pate Award for outstanding sportsmanship in addition to significant contributions to his team and community.

Personal Highlights:

  • Following retirement Washington became a Canadian network television co-host with Laura-Lynne Tyler Thompson on the program, The Daily: Living Life With Purpose - One Day At a Time.
  • Washington is a popular Christian guest and motivational speaker on behalf of Athletes in Action.
  • Born in Washington, DC Mark grew up in Washington, his father's name was George Washington and he worked at the White House.
